Norton Ghost Bootable Usb
The remote backup tool also allows you to make a bootable CD or DVD (using a Windows or Linux operating system), so that it can be used to recover the data from the remote computer. This is the same as the option above, where you use the BartPE environment to make a bootable USB drive.

4. Recover Specific Data. With this option, you can either choose to image the source volume to a separate (bootable) disk, or to extract specific data from the source volume to another volume. These are the same approaches as in using Bootable USB media and the BartPE environment. Any of these approaches could also be used to image the data from the source volume to any operating system, but is most effective with the Windows or Linux operating systems (and of course, each will have their own advantages/disadvantages).
Thanks for the quick reply. I am not sure if the example file you provided would work for me. I am currently using the trial version and can not install the full version yet. I have XP Home and Vista Ultimate. I tried downloading the latest version from Ghost's site but it said it could not be found. It must be that they are having a re-design at their site. I will try again later when my IT dept is open.
Thank you for your help. I thought of uninstalling my Ghost 9 and loading the trial version. But I don't think this will help. I have installed Norton Ghost 2003 because I am trying to make a backup of my Vista Ultimate. My laptop does not have a Firewire port. I have inserted my USB flash drive. I have seen the pop-up message of the trial version. But when I click on the OK, the pop-up windows appears again and my computer displays the blank screen. This blank screen has appeared for 5 to 10 seconds. I have tried to restart the computer but the problem still persists.
